Notes

This chorale survives by way of three manuscripts: the Birnstiel collection that served as the basis for the Breitkopf edition, which the NBA identifies as "Source B1", D–B Am.B 46/II, which the NBA identifies as "Source C," and the Penzel collection, which the NBA identifies as "Source E." NBA scholars attribute the setting to Bach confidently, suggesting that its omission from the Breitkopf collection was an editorial oversight. (See NBA III/2.2 KB, p.333)
